Austin residents could see an added fee on their utility bills. The Austin City Council will vote on an ordinance for a fire hydrant maintenance fee during its next regular meeting. Under the proposed ordinance, all properties will have a $1 fire hydrant fee added to their monthly utility bills to help pay for the installation and maintenance of the fire hydrants throughout the city. The council’s next regular meeting will be held this evening [Nov. 16], at Austin City Hall. Residents wishing to join the work session remotely should contact the city clerks office to make arrangements.
