Albert Lea homeowners could ring in the new year with lower taxes

Albert Lea homeowners could ring in the new year with lower taxes. The Albert Lea City Council approved a 2.87% total levy increase for 2021 on Monday, which was down about 5% from the preliminary levy approved in September. City leaders said a person with a $100,000 home that saw no increase in value in 2021 would have their taxes go down by 56 cents because of increased tax capacity across the city.
