Austin, MN – An Austin man was formally charged Wednesday in connection to a fatal domestic dispute. According to the criminal complaint filed in Mower County Court, 27-year-old Jaime Vaca is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after stabbing his wife and her young son at the family’s home Tuesday morning. Both were airlifted to St. Mary’s hospital where the boy died from his injuries and his mother is in critical condition.
Five other children were found in the house but were not harmed. Vaca remains jailed on $500,000 bail. His next court appearance is set for December 28.
