(Albert Lea, MN) — Devin Weiland is now facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three felony assault charges. The 21-year-old Albert Lea man held police at bay for nine-hours Sunday, in what Albert Lea’s public safety director described as an ambush, at an Albert Lea apartment where Weiland opened fire on police, striking one officer and two innocent bystasnders before he was taken into custody.

Authorities say an investigation is ongoing after a body was found in a unit at the same complex where the police shootout happend. Police say that death is unrelated to the shootings.
