(ABC 6 NEWS) – Freeborn County is seeing serious traffic crashes and fatalities on the rise. The Albert Lea Police Department said the state saw a 100% increase from 2019 to 2020 in the number of citations written to those speeding over 100 mph, and during the COVID-19 pandemic period, there were over 300 traffic fatalities. The Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office says they are beefing up patrols to help curb the uptick in traffic incidents.
