MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesotans thinking about holding Super Bowl parties should think again. Even through the state’s coronavirus numbers are improving, state health officials advised Thursday that this is probably not the year to have a Super Bowl party. But fans who do plan to gather for the Sunday match up are being advised to mask up and practice social distancing. Health officials are also discouraging people from sharing chips and dip, and other traditional gameday finger foods, suggesting that they bring their own snacks instead.

There have been 16 known cases of the British variant in Minnesota, with four of thoses cases due to community spread. Minnesota reported 1,410 new cases Thursday and 17 new deaths.
