Trial date set for Albert Lea man charged in nine-hour police standoff

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A trial date is set for an Albert Lea man accused of shooting three people during a nine-hour standoff. Devin Matthew Weiland, 21, is facing multiple charges in connection to the incident at the Shady Oaks apartment complex on November 29, 2020, in which Weiland fired between 75 and 90 rounds striking a police officer and two other victims. On Wednesday, a trial date for Weiland was scheduled to begin on September 21. He remains in the Freeborn County Jail on $1 million bond.
