A fire that badly damaged a home last week on Minnesota Avenue in Albert Lea is believed to be accidental, according to the Albert Lea Fire Department. Fire officials said the June 29 fire started after the homeowner lost control of a recreational fire burning too close to the house. Two residents were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea to be treated for health issues aggravated by the fire that caused extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
