Local COVID cases are climbing again

WASECA – Local COVID cases are climbing again. After a seemingly downarad trend last week, the region’s COVID-19 infections surged upward again this week. South-central Minnesota’s positive test rate, measuring the percent of people infected with the virus, was on the decline from about mid-August until last week, according to data from the Minnesota Department of Health. New data released this week showed new cases, positivity rates or hospitalizations were up nearly across the board in the nine-county region. In Waseca County recent COVID-19 hospitalization rates are nearly back up to were they were before during the pandemic.
