New details released about ‘swatting’ call that ended in fatal police shooting

We’re learning more about a ‘swatting’ call that ended in a fatal police involved shooting. The Department of Criminal Investigation says, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 report of an assault at a residence in Thompson and when they arrived they found James Anderson armed with a loaded 9-millimeter handgun. The 48 year old told police that there was no assault and when he pointed his weapon at officers he was shot one time. Anderson later died of his injuries. Police said Anderson was despondent about a medical diagnosis.
