‘Swatting call’ leads to police involved shooting in Winnebago County

(ABC 6 News) – An officer has been placed on administrative leave after a prank call led to a police involved shooting Saturday. The Winnebago sheriff’s office responded to a reports of an assault in Thompson, Iowa and when deputies arrived they determined it was a ‘swatting call’ which is a tactic to bring law enforcement to the area. Details of the officer-involved shooting were not released. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, pending further investigation.
