Employee at Austin pharmacy tries to talk robbery suspect out of the crime

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – An employee at an Austin Walgreens is unharmed after getting in the get away car with a robbery suspect in an attempt to talk him out of the crime Thursday. Albert Lea police responded to the Walgreens on Main Street E after a Missouri man reportedly stole $4,000 out of a register, and as he fled a store employee got in the SUV with the suspect who pleaded with the clerk to get out of the vehicle and when they did a brief police pursuit ensued before the driver surrendered. Devon Henry Smith, 45, was arrested and was being held at the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center.
