AUSTIN, Minn. – A Mower County man is headed to prison after he pleaded guilty to assault charges from an incident last summer. Raul Zavala Jr., 29 of Austin, was sentenced Tuesday to seven years and two months behind bars for stabbing a man he was arguing with and also for firing a gun during the fight sending a bullet into the home. Zavala told police he defended himself after being hit in the head with a beer bottle.
