(ABC 6 News) – A fire that destroyed an Austin home over the weekend was human caused, officials said in a release Monday. Austin Police responded to a 911 hang-up call Friday from a 3rd Ave Northeast address and upon arrival, officers reported the home was almost fully engulfed in flames. Fire officials said the blaze started after someone lit a piece of paper using the stove to light their cigarette, and the paper was then dropped in a trash can sparking the fire. No injuries were reported.
