Blooming Prairie nonprofit launches $3 million ‘childcare’ fundraising campaign

A Blooming Prairie nonprofit has launched a $3 million fundraising campaign to help working parents, as concerns about the lack of affordable childcare grow. The Leo Augusta Children’s Academy is asking for donations from Blooming Prairie and surrounding communities to reach their goal. So far the organization has raised $1.25 million, with the goal of converting a former office on the north edge of Blooming Prairie into a childcare center. Leo Augusta hopes to be able to offer 144 daycare spots by next spring.
