Seventh tornado confirmed in Freeborn County tied to Dec. 15 storms

The National Weather Service on Tuesday confirmed a seventh tornado in Freeborn County tied to the Dec. 15 storms. The tornado damaged trees, farm buildings and tossed hay bales across the road by the time it reached 795th Avenue, before stopping south of U.S. Highway 65. The Weather Service stated the tornado was on the ground for 2.71 miles. It was 100 yards wide and reached a peak of 80 mph. Twenty tornadoes have now been confirmed across the state.
