Albert Lea City Council kicks off 2022 with focus on improving housing and infrastructure

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Albert Lea City Council is continuing to focus on improving housing and infrastructure in the city. The council has reworked a tax abatement program for new housing, which they are hoping will spur growth by giving developers an incentive to rehab some older homes and buildings in town.

MEANWHILE…

There is a housing project being built in the Blazing Star Landing Area, and there’s also some housing being put into the old VFW building. Another big project in the works this new year is the Central Water Tower which was demolished in 2021, and council members said they are hoping to have the Central Water Tower up sometime before the end of 2022.
