Albert Lea high school counselor has been fired

The Albert Lea high school counselor and girls basketball coach has been fired, following an investigation into child sexual exploitation allegations. The school board on Monday voted to terminate RJ Polley during a special meeting after a 12-day investigation by Albert Lea Area Schools. Polley, who was charged on Jan. 14 in Freeborn County District Court with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a student, faces 15 years imprisonment. The district investigation also found that Polley lied on his application. He is slated to appear in court Thursday.
