Albert Lea man lucky to be alive thanks to quick actions of bystanders

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – An Albert Lea man’s family is thanking several people who’s quick actions helped save his life after a medical emergency at the Albert Lea American Legion over the weekend. During an executive board meeting Sunday, the Freeborn County Sheriff, along with a trained nurse, and an Albert Lea officer, started CPR procedures, including using a defibrillator, until the fire department and ambulance arrived to assist those life saving efforts. The man is in the ICU in Rochester but he’s conscious and talking with family as he waits for surgery to fix some heart issues.
