(ABC 6 News) – Johnny Eugene Davis of Austin pleaded guilty to one count of eluding police. The 58 year old was charged with the felony after he admitted that he fled from the police on March 19, 2021, because he “didn’t want to go to jail.” He was wanted on a felony warrant, issued for a charge of having been a violent felon in possession of a firearm. Davis first pleaded not guilty, then amended his plea Monday, waiving his right to a jury trial. His sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
