Albert Lea sprucing up areas where crumbling homes have become eyesore

ALBERT LEA, Minn.- Albert Lea city officials are working to spruce up areas where some crumbling homes have become an eyesore. The city launched a new program to help save dilapidated tax forfeited properties in an effort to preserve the buildings by fixing structural issues and selling them to private investors as a way to improve the community. The city is in the process of saving three buildings, on E 8th St., South Broadway Ave., and S Newton Ave.. The program has been in the works since mid 2021, according to Rigg.
