Winter storms caused treacherous driving for Friday morning commuters

Commuters had a treacherous drive Friday morning after heavy snow impacted roads in southern Minnesota, causing multiple vehicle spinouts, crashes and jackknifed semis. A snowstorm passed through the state Thursday night into Friday morning, with some parts near the Iowa border reporting 8 inches and more in some areas, including major roads such as I-35, I-90, and Hwy. 169. A jackknifed semi delayed traffic on Interstate 35 north of Faribault, as well as another near the Minnesota-Iowa border. Crashes and spinouts were spotted in Mankato, Lake Crystal, Rochester, Albert Lea and elsewhere.

MEANWHILE…

Hazardous weather conditions will continue this week in Minnesota as a potent winter storm arrives Tuesday and lingers through at least Thursday.
