Freeborn County man convicted in 2021 car theft escapes jail time

FOREST CITY, Iowa – A Freeborn County man accused of stealing more than $300,000 from a private property in Iowa has escaped jail time. A judge ordered Brandon Lee Crews, of Emmons, Minnesota, to five years probation, after he accepted a plea deal for lesser charges. The 32 year old was arrested for smashing out the back window of a truck in Lake Mills on November 28, 2021, and stealing cash and other items totaling over $373,000.
