An Austin woman is dead and a suspect is in custody after a fatal hit-and-run accident in southeast Austin late Friday evening. Officers responded just before midnight to a report of a person lying in the roadway on Oakland Place SE and found Melissa Rack not breathing. The 41-year old was pronounced dead at the scene. Police quicly located the car involved in the crash and dash wreck parked at a 1st Ave address, and 35-year old Darin Finley of Austin was taken into custody. Vehicular homicide charges are pending a review of the case by the Mower County Attorney’s Office.
