Mayo Clinc case closely watched by Austin disability advocates comes to close

An agreement appears to have been reached in a case closely watched by Austin disability advocates. A judge vacated a court-ordered guardianship for Cindy Hagen, a 49 year old quadriplegic who has been living in Mayo Clinic’s hospital since last summer after attempts to find in-home care for Hagen, which she previously had at her apartment in Mankato, failed, in part due to wide-spread staffing shortages, according to court documents. Hagen’s guardianship will be reinstated if she doesn’t move home within 45 days, court documents state.
