Minnesota man arrested after check he wrote bounced in North Iowa

MASON CITY, Iowa – A Minnesota man has been arrested after a check he wrote bounced in North Iowa. Brendan Charles Johnson, of Mower County is charged with ongoing criminal conduct and forgery, after investigators say the 39 year old used a phony check as payment at the Kwik Star in Mason City last year. Law enforcement says Johnson also passed several other bad checks at Kwik Star locations in Minnesota. Johnson was arrested Wednesday and is being held on $25,000 bond.
