Authorities are continuing their efforts to determine the cause of a fire that broke out at the Roadway Inn of Austin early Friday evening. Fire Chief Jim McCoy stated in a report that multiple fire departments responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from the electrical room, and crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to an adjacent hotel room. Austin Police evacuated guests as crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported. What sparked the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
