Forest City man charged in 2022 home invasion accepted plea deal

A Forest City man charged in connection to a 2022 home invasion has accepted a plea deal in the case. 31-year-old Victor Rivera was charged with first-degree burglary after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s home in Leland last year and assaulting her. Rivera as part of a plea agreement filed in Winnebago County District Court on Tuesday entered an Alford plea to the lesser charge of second-degree burglary. Rivera faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced.
