New Richland man now facing charges in bar brawl turned shooting

A New Richland man is now facing charges in connection to a bar brawl turned shooting last month. Dustin Grey Smitty, 22, turned himself in Thursday on a warrant in the case to Albert Lea police, and appeared in Freeborn County District Court Friday on two counts of second-degree assault. The charges stem from the April 22 fight that started inside the Geneva Bar over what song was playing on the jukebox, before the victims left and Smitty allegedly followed them and opened fire, at the intersection of Central Avenue and First Street Northeast, sending atleast 3 bullets into their truck. The 22 year old is being held on a $500,000 bond.
