Albert Lea deems blighted properties on Broadway useless

The Albert Lea City Council on Monday declared four city-owned downtown properties as no longer having a public purpose as it moves closer to the sale of the properties. The action essentially states there is no reason for the city to hold onto the properties on S. Broadway, two of which were taken down last fall because they had fallen into severe disrepair, with collapsing interior floors and other structural damage. No details have yet been provided about possible plans for the properties.
