Albert Lea man charged in good samaritan shooting escapes prison time

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – An Albert Lea man charged in a shooting last year has escaped prison time. Javen Juan Moreno was sentenced Wednesday to five years probation and 40 hours of community work service, stemming from the an incident on May 1, 2022, in which the now 21 year old shot a good samaritan who tried to intervene during an argument between Moreno and another man, court documents state. Moreno was arrested May 22, 2022, after a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 90 west of Bridge Avenue.
