Freeborn County man accused of assaulting his mother’s boyfriend last year has learned his fate

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A Freeborn County man accused of assaulting his mother’s boyfriend last year has learned his fate. Albert Lea police say, Rio Santiago Acosta, of Albert Lea, stabbed his mother’s boyfriend in the neck, court documents state. The 25 year old pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced Wednesday to one year and nine months behind bars, with credit for 238 days already served.
