MINNEAPOLIS – A Republican proposal to strip Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of the emergency powers he used to close schools aimed at keeping students and staff safe amid COVID passed in the state Senate on Wednesday. A Senate committee sent the bill, that would leave the decision making up to the school board, to the education committee on a 5-3 party-line vote.
