Albert Lea City Council approves funds for wastewater treatment plant upgrades

The Albert Lea City Council approved a nearly $665,000 agreement Monday with a Mankato engineering firm for improvements to the city’s wastewater treatment plant. According to a press release, the city’s permit with the state expired in November 2014, and stricter state standards, officials said, could impact improvements at the plant that treats the sewage from the entire city and then discharges it to the Shell Rock River.
