Austin woman arrested after crashing into transformer knocking out power in the area

A rural Austin woman was taken into custody late Thursday morning after she crashed into a transformer on 4th St. NW knocking out power in the area, before fleeing the scene. Austin Police officers were advised that a citizen was following the suspect’s vehicle on U.S. Highway 218 and that it had pulled into an address on 255th St.. Deputies made contact with the driver, identifed as 51-year old April Dahmen, and noted the 51 year old appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested and was booked into the Mower County jail.
