(ABC 6 News) – A case of mistaken identiy nearly ended with an Austin couple in jail. The woman who is white and her boyfriend who is black were detained for hours as police investigated an armed robbery at an Austin gas station. The Mower County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement saying, the two were pulled over because witnesses say the man had similar clothing to what the suspect was wearing. The Sheriff said the pair were released from custody after police recieved confirmation of the suspects identity and realized it was not the same man.
