New details about Northwood woman accused in state assistance scheme

NORTHWOOD – New details show a Northwood woman accused of deceiving the state out of housing and food assistance was on probation for a scam in which she recieved gifts and money for falsely claiming she had cancer. Jennifer Mikesell is said to have received just over $10,000 in state aid between November and this week. The 45 year old has been charged with ongoing criminal conduct, first-degree theft, and first-degree fraudulent practice. If convicted she would face up to 45 years in prison. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 7th in Worth County District Court. A probation revocation hearing is scheduled for July 18th.
