Utility crews from across Minnesota head to Florida to help with restoration efforts

(ABC 6 News) – Utility crews from across Minnesota, including Rochester and Austin, are heading to Florida to help with restoration efforts due to devastation from hurricane Ian. According to Rochester Public Utilities, four RPU line workers and two RPU mechanics left Wednesday morning, along with over 30 other Minnesota line workers from 14 municipal utilities, as well as several electric crews from Austin to provide mutual aid to millions in Florida impacted by Hurricane Ian which made landfall in southwest Florida Wednesday as a catastrophic Category 4 storm.
