Winter storm could impact your morning or evening commute

There are several severe winter weather alerts to make you aware of that could impact your morning or evening commute. The NWS has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for portions of north central and northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota until this evening [thu], and a BLIZZARD WARNING will remain in effect from 6 PM THURSDAY TO 6 AM SATURDAY, with wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. This will cause blizzard and whiteout conditions, with blowing and drifting snow. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Wind chill values will be from minus 20 to minus 40 from Thursday into the holiday weekend. Plan on slippery road conditions if you’re heading home for Christmas. The affected areas include, Franklin, Winnebago, Worth, Floyd, Blue Earth, Faribault, Freeborn, Steele and Waseca.
