(ABC 6 News) – During their first meeting of 2023 the Albert Lea city council approved hiring outside council. Instead of having a city attorney on staff like in years past, the council voted this week [mon.] to contract with a legal firm from Whitebear lake in an effort to save the city money, officials said. The previous city attorney had been making just under 104 thousand dollars a year. Under this new contract, the city will pay the firm 84 thousand dollars a year.
