Albert Lea shooter wants speedy trial

(ABC 6 News) – Devin Weiland made his second appearance in Freeborn County court Wednesday to request a speedy trial. His defense attorney put pressure on the prosecution to hurry this along after the 21 year old has been sitting in jail for over a month. Weiland is facing attempted murder charges for opening fire at an Albert Lea apartment complex during an hours long police standoff. The judge said he plans to come to a decision by early next week.
