The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Monday that a district court judge acted properly in setting the Sheriff’s salary at $113,952 after the Freeborn County commissioners voted to pay him $97,020. -0-

Helicopter crash north of Austin claims life of Texas pilot

[n/austin] A helicopter crash in southeast Minnesota killed the Texas pilot Monday afternoon. Authorities said the incident happened as the piolot was apparently crop dusting when the chopper’s blades made contact with power lines, causing the R-44 helicopter to go down and catch fire just north of Austin. Crash in Mower County sends elderly Spring Valley man to hospital

(ABC 6 News) – A crash in Mower County sent an elderly Spring Valley man to the hospital Monday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol said Michael Otterness, 72 collided with a semi on County Road 2 at Hwy 56 in Brownsdale. Otterness was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Mayo Clinic in Austin. -0-
