Sex abuse suspect denied new trial

MASON CITY – A Lake Mills man will remain behind bars. 20-year-old Benjamin Monson, convicted of sexual abuse in connection to separate incidents in Mason City in 2019 has had his motion for a new trial denied. Court documents stated a sentencing hearing for Monson will be set at a later date. -0-

Wells woman injured in I-90 crash identified

A Wells woman injured in a one-vehicle crash on I-90 in Freeborn County Thursday has been identified. The Minnesota State Patrol said icy road conditions may have contributed to 48-year old Kim Elizabeth Kastens overturning at milepost 155 in Manchester Township. She was treated at Mayo Health Clinic in Albert Lea, according to reports. -0-
