AUSTIN, Minn. – An Austin man arrested for robbing a gas station last year has been sentenced. Derek Joseph Leichtnam pleaded guilty to firearm charges after police say he broke through the front door of the Apollo III gas station on Oakland Avenue West July 10, 2022 and stole 102 vape pens, 19 disposable vapes, 11 vape cartridges, and one pack of cigarettes. A judge ordered the 39 year old to five years of supervised probation. He must also pay more than $4,700 in restitution.
